there are ways to close any ports you want,, but I would not recommend that,, what if in two months you got a new software that need that closed port to go out,, then you have to be looking for UN-DO,, best thing it t make sure that you have enough protection ,, if you want to test how secure is your system.. go to this site
http://www.grc.com and click on "shield up" ,, they will run scan on your system and tell you if your system is secure of not, then you can look for firewall software or something.
