Question password protect files and/or folders?

is there any program that will allow you to throw a password on a folder or file using XP? or does XP have a built-in password protect feature? Thanks in advance!

Quiksilver1850, there isn't a password protection for Windows XP files per say,, but there are tools and ways to Hid and protect your files,, Windows XP has built in EFS (Encrypted File system),, where you could use your Administration credential to encrypt a file and only you would be able to open it,, but there are lot of downside to it,, if for some reason you reinstall your operating system then you can;t access those file any more because of security reasons,, now if you describe exactly what you are trying to protect with some more detail about your system then someone may be able to suggest a thing or two to get around your problem.

cheers

TweakXP Pro has a pretty good folder protector. It will lock anyone from the folder unless you go in TweakXP and unlock it. Works great, unless someone with DOS knowledge comes in, but TweakXP will also lock out the command prompt too if you are worried about it.

Security Box Series are great programs for single file and folder encrypting. It supports the most common type of encryption going from Blowfish 64 bit to 192-bit triple DES. You can also get a free version on the website
