Outlook Express 6.0 Cant delete mail message!

Help! When I try to delete a mail message, it ignores me (like I didnt do anything). Ive tried selecting the email and hitting the delete key on the keyboard AND on the tool bar. I can however delete some emails, but only a few (like 20%). Can anyone help me? Ive already visited the MSoft website and it didnt help! I appreciate any assistance! This is a new upgrade of IE6 (with Outlook in it). Running XPPro, never had this problem before.

Hi PcWiz. I have run into that problem before. What I had to do is Delete my Mail Account and Reinstall it. By going to Control panel, Mail, E-Mail Accounts, View or Change, then delete the account that is hanging up. Re open Express and delete mail, then reinstall the mail account. Only help I can give. thanks for the help.. .were you able to save any of your mail, or was that deleted too... can it be backed up and saved? I dont want to lose all of my mail! And I have many mail folders with important docs in them too, they would be deleted as well...

I only had one E-Mail hanging up. I tried reinstaling the program and it did nothing. After I deleted my mail account, and reinstaled my mail account, all my folders were still there. I belive the program stores the imformation your wanting to save in a .pft file. When you reinstal your account settings you should still recieve your unread mail.

Thank you again, I will give it a shot! What mail service do you use? By chance to you know if they keep your mail on their server, until you download it to your PC?

Actually have 3 internet hosting, dial up account and inter office exchange server. One of the problems I had is trying to figure out which account was hanging up. But, your unread mail should be there when you add the account back. As far as backing all your data up, I wish I knew how. Luckily I didn’t loose any data deleting my account. GL again

Just a suggestion, rather than a solution.

Have you tried using the Mozilla mail client? I find it really good. It has many of the same features as Outlook.

Its also less prone to Viruses than Outlook, its free, and its open source.

I can not delete anything (by pressing delete, by right clicking - anything.)
I can not transfer messages to the delete folder either. I tried transferring messages to other forlders (ok) but I can not delete them after that as well.

It all started when I tried to send a message with a video file and it got stuck in my outbox. It took days for my outlook to even open propely and I had to switch off the option to send/retrieve mesages.

I dont know anything about computers and am scared to install it again (bc I dont know how to do that and back up anything)

PLEASE HELP! (This has been going on for a week already and no one seems to know what to do)
