Server Domain & Cable Modem

I know this may not be the correct place to post this but I am in need of some help.

I have a situation where there is a Windows NT 4 Server setup with a Domain. The method of Internet access has been a modem located in the server machine. The Internet connection is now cable and I am trying to connect the cable modem into a cable/dsl router(Linksys) an use it along side the NT server. The NT server is using DHCP and has an internal address of 192.168.1.1 and my router has an IP of 192.168.1.254. There are 12 machines on the network that are in need of being connected to both the server and the router to gain Internet access but also need to log into the Domain to be able to run applications and see shares. Can anybody give me some pointers on how to make both these exist?

Dude that is the simplest network setup ever

hock up your router and DSL modem and server like this

from out side it:

Internet<--- Cable Modem------>WAN port of Linksys Router-------LAN Port of Linksys----NT server

If you had a network going before with few computers, then that means your NT box was doing the DHCP for you,, you may want to hand that to the Router,, further,, you can us the LAN port of your Router to connect it to another switch or connect your other system to it if you have enough port on the router,,, check out all your client system to make sure that the don't force IP address, and if you run WINS server, disable it.

There are tones on web sites which would show you diagram of simple network setup.

cheers

I have found a solution to my problem. I used the DHCP Manager in NT 4 and selected the 003 Router option then configured the IP address of the router. I then selected 006 DNS Servers and added the IP addresses for my DNS servers and then had the workstations renew the IP addresses and it worked.
