System32 Files

I ran AVG anti-virus software on a computer running Windows XP recently. It was able to clean out all of the viruses except for two.

I re-started in safe mode, but AVG was not able to work. So, I deleted the files in Safe Mode.

I realized later that I probably shouldn't have done that since the files were in the System32 folder. The computer seems to be running good, but I have not been able to find out any info on the two files. They are:

febalob.exe and truwdcha.exe

They are both applications. febalob still has a .dll in the System32 folder, and is in startup. The viruses were trojans, and I believe one was some kind of backdoor trojan.

Any info on these two files ?

Thanks!

If your system was working fine, the files probably weren't important, searching around they don't seem to be found anywhere on google, or a XP system file period, so you are pobably safe.

Thanks, that helps.

When you say "...or a XP system file period" do you mean searching in another system32 directory on another machine ? or is that another search engine ?

Thanks again.

just to be on the safe side, i would run a on-line virus scan. then if it come up clean, or removes anything, run the system file checker on xp. if you have your windows xp disk, drop it in the drive, go to start, then run type
scf /scannow
let it replace anything it thinks it needs to.
