XP Profile Password Protection - How do I disable it?

My computer recently failed to restart. So I pulled my hard drive and hooked it up on my other computer to backup all the files to my external maxtor one-touch backup drive. Problem is the profile I have on my hard drive for XP was password protected (from my crashed computer). So on my backup, I can not open the folder for my password protected profile (Documents & Settings/Tom). It says "Access Denied". The other profile I setup on that hard drive was not password protected and I can access that one fine. Just not the one I did password protect. Does anyone know how I can remove the password protection so I can access these files?
Thanks
Tom

You need to take ownership of that hard drive with the new PC.
select the drive and right click it. Got properties, security, advanced. Go tot he owner tab. Check the box at the bottom (replace owner on subcontainers and objects). Pick your users ID from the top and hit apply.
This will take a while if there are a lot of files.

Your other PC, while it might have had the same user ID for a profile, it is looking for the user ID from that PC. Doing this will reset the hard drive to know it is in a new PC and there is a new boss in town

Hope that works
