Exclamation Windows XP login password

I cannot remember for the life of me my password to get into windows. I can't even sign on as a guest. Does anyone know of any way to get past the login screen so I can go in and change my password or is my laptop now completly useless? I have tried logging in as administrator too and that doesn't even work...

In that case if you have your product recovery disk just reformat back to factory setting . If you don't have the disk ? Then buy a new windows xp disk

How to: Change log on password if forgotten with XP

This is useful if you forget your password

1. Firstly you will have to login in safe mode"do this by pressing F8 at boot up", login as Administator

2. Now click on start then run

3. Type cmd and hit enter,You should now see the command prompt screen

4.Then type in net user "netspaceuser" then hit enter, from there you will see all the accounts on the computer

5.Now to change the original password without knowing or remembering the previous one type in net user nameofuser *

ex: ie if it was me I would type in net user sam * then hit enter

6.Now it will ask you to type in a new password, you can either leave it blank by just pressing enter twice or you can enter any password you want, for example type 1234 enter then confirm new password 1234 enter, then type exit and then hit enter.

Thats it password changed

Now when you log on that will be the new password or if you leave it blank it will just login automatically

My first faq hope it is useful for some peeps out there

Another way that works is to go to Run, and type "control userpasswords2", select an account and click "Reset Password".
