Changing the text undernath icons on desktop

I know how to change the icon text on the desktp, but how can I change the background? Right now, it's gray, and it looks horrible.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

If you just want to make your desktop icon labels (background) transparent, open System from the Control Panel, select the Advanced tab, and press the Settings button under the Performance header. Make sure that on the Visual Effects tab, the option "Use drop shadows for icon labels" on the desktop is selected.
