Windoze media player memory problem

For no apparent reason, now, whenever i use Windoze media player 9 it slowly eats memory. All was fine, and i changed nothing (that i know of!) but when i play mp3's or any other file through media player 9, it's memory useage slowly increases (seen from the task manager / processes / memory usage) from around 10 - 20mb to 120!! and concequently my CPU usage increases to 100%, and starts getting very hot. I've got ample ram etc and am stumped. Re-installation does nothing. Any ideas?

Park Media Player way, way in the back yard and use something else. The new Winamp is quite nice.
