Windows Me: Access denied to DVD drive

I recently had a virus in my system and i used AVG virus scan to heal the virus, however, it removed certain system files that may have been corrupted by the virus. I cannot play DVDs, however, CDs play fine. It also won't allow me to re-install my drives, application, and system restore CDs which came with the PC.

Error message when attempting to access CD/DVD drive:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

I don't know if you noticed but this is a Windows XP forum, try posing it in the Windows ME forum and then maybe someone might look.

Windows ME has never liked my DVD drive. So I took the drive back.
