Please Help
Does anyone know why I have so many temporary internet files?
Every time I go into disk cleanup, there are so many in there. This has never happened in the past. It seems as though it is related to the following:
Yesterday, I downloaded an update for Adobe (Adobe 6 and Photoshop). When I hit on Start and Programs, my programs on the right were blocked, so I went to Appearances to change font sizes, etc, but started to screw my computer settings up, so I decided (alittle too late) to make a manual restore checkpoint. I went back to trying to fix my system and when I couldn't, I decided to go back to a restore point prior to the downloaded programs. Unfortunately, it did not work. A message came up saying unable to restore, please try another date. I did this over and over and no dates worked, except for my manual one, which wasn't any better than what I was working with. I checked memory, etc and nothing. One thing I did notice was I had 14,000 files in my temp folder when i did a disk cleanup, which is weird because i clean my drives all the time. Well, later that night, I noticed all my (albeit useless, but still) restore points were gone and so I did a manual and tried to get back to even that and nothing. I dumped the downloads, but I think the damage is done. I checked for viruses; none. I really don't want to do a recovery; I just want my computer restored to a day before all this insanity.
PS. I am now able to restore, but the points listed are ones I manually put in and only from today and yesterday. The rest are gone. Anyone know if/how I can get those restore points back?
Thanks.
