xp sometimes forgets video card configuration

Here is the sroty. I have:
- os xp-pro
- cpu pentium 4 cpu 2Ghz
- video card nvidia geforce2 mx400
- motherboard intel 850

from a time to time the xp forget or even change video card configuration like:
* kind of video card (might change to different cards of nvidia)
* screen refresh rate
* resolution
and so on...

I downloaded most uptodate driver for my video card, but no good.
Once in several startups of the pc the xp forget or change the configuration.


Any idea how to tackle the problem?
