XP Home hanging after logging in

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help.

I'm running XP home. I can boot up to the "log in" screen where i have to select a user and insert a password if required. I am able to select the user and on that screen it will say "logging in". once i am pass this stage, i get a blue screen. (not the common blue screen with error messages). It has nothing, no icons, taskbars. just a blue screen with the mouse arrow. i can move the mouse around. When i press "Ctrl"+"Alt"+"Del", the task manager comes up. All the processes are there running like if the pc was operating all ok. I can go to the command prompt and run Internet Explorer but IE will only run if i end the Explorer.exe process. Once i close the IE process, i just go back to a blue screen (no icons, taskbars) with just only the mouse arrow. If i press the "Ctrl"+"Alt"+"Del" buttons so i can bring up the task manager and "turn off" the PC, i go back to the normal screen that says "logging Off" and then it will shutdown all ok. So if anyone can shed some light on the problem it will be great.

hi guys,

thanks for the help. I dont have any of those processes running. Also I've noticed that it only happens to one of the accounts (running win XP home) but no to the rest. i can log into the other accounts fine but only this certain one account constantly gives me a blank wallpaper. Any more help will be great.

Try deleting the account and redo it.
