Clearing text fields in Windows XP (not in IE)

Hi

When using Windows XP (Professional Edition), I often use the 'Search for Files or Folders' to locate files on my computer. Now there is a long list of previous searches and typing 'A' in the field brings up all the previous searches starting with that letter.

How can I clear these previous searches? Please advise!

right click your taskbar, select properties, then click the start menu tab. click customize, then the advanced tab. click clear list at the bottom.

Thanks for your reply KC, but unfortunately it didn't work. It simply cleared the list of 'documents' under the start menu.

Any suggestions anyone??

i usually do it myself without windows options, sorry the post before didnt work, the info you want to delete is stored in
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch
file name SVCHOST.EXE, you can delete it and the search will be clean.

Damn... that didn't work either!! :-(
