new system and xp install...bad drive letters

I picked up some new hardware today..mother board, cpu, memory etc and so I deleted and reinstalled XP. When I deleted the partition and reformated it and installed xp on it, for some reason windows is showing the drive as G: and my other 2 partitions as c: and d: ...windows is installed on drive g: ! doh.
is there a way to reconfigure the drives so they show the windows drive as C:, and the other partitions on my hdd as D: and E: like they were before I did this?

Re: new system and xp install...bad drive letters

If you have a Zip drive, it could be causing this dilemma.
I've installed XP on systems with one drive (no partitions) and ended up with the boot drive being F:!!!

Just unplug the Zip drive and all should be good.

Give it a try (if you have a Zip drive installed).

Re: Fix...new system and xp install...bad drive letters

Just unplug the Zip drive and all should be good.

I forgot to add: Then do a clean install of XP...
