XP seems to run slower after installing SP1
Hi there,
I installed SP1 yesterday and since then it seems to me that XP runs slower...
Even my mouse doesnt run smoothly over the screen while closing a window, for example. Also the animation in the taskbar when closing a windows doesnt go smoothly. All that worked before SP1.
Anyone having the same problem, or has an idea why that is so??
Thanx,
steam

I have had a slowing down problem after installing SP1 too. My computer since is now slow to shutdown/logoff and restart and Outlook Express takes ages to load.

I think the problem may extend from the fact that SP1 has new device drivers among its other fixes.
If you use the Nvidia cards, it may be helpfull to reinstall Nvidia's driver instead of the MS one.

Thanks i'll give that a try, that's about the only thing I havent tried. Is it true that SP1 was rushed out due to a securty flaw in Windows? So i'm hoping they will do a revised SP1 that works properly and improves Windows, rather than the opposite.

Certainly was.
Did you notice that after installing SP1, another security fix has come out?
Yet more evidence.

Yeah i have this prob 2, the annoying thing is that even if i reinstall xp and I've even tryed this with an intergrated SP1, after what seems like a random number of reboots, it just slows down greatly, un smooth mouse etc, no warning.
Specs:
WinXP SP1
Epox 8k7a motherboard
athlon xp 1600+
256mb DDR
40gig IBM HDD
Geforce 2 mx200
