Plz Help

OMG, my computer is starting to get so slow that I can barely open programs. I dont know why, but last night everything was fine, until I installed Medal Of Honor allied assault. Then everything got real slow, so I uninstalled and went to bed. Now when I wake up, everything is MAD slow to where I cant even play my counter-strike game. When I hit ctrl+alt+del, I see that there are a few svchost.exe's running, and one of them is taking up like......52 cpu usage, so I closed that, but then everythign started working quick. Then I went into counter-strike and my sound wasnt working. I went back to windows and hit winamp, and sound dont work. But when that svchost was running it did work, so Im thinking that svchost has something in there running that I need to take out. Any suggestions on how to make me run fast again, please let me know. Sys specs include:
AMD XP 1900+ processor
Abit KR7A-RAID motherboard
Radeon 8500 video card
512MB RAM DDR
15 gig hard drive
Logitech Mouseman dual optical

anything else I wouldnt think would matter.

Please help me

Hey, I've got almost the same setup. Same motherboard and processor, at least. I must first say that XP sucks and swallows, but that doesn't help to solve your problem. I know that my XP box does that when a network drive is mapped. For some reason, windows seems to eat up memory when that's connected. If I unmap the drives it stops communicating with them. Just a thought, :/

Common install and uninstall problem. The game you uninstalled most likely took some important shared files with it when it went bye bye. I used to back up the registry before an install. Now I use Ontracks system suite for uninstalls and have never had a screwup. You could use system restore as well but it sucks and has never worked for me and takes up valuble resources. You may need to repair from the xp installation cd. Boot from the cd and run repair. It will replace all the windows files and save your personal stuff. Not much else you can do unless you are a windows guru and have loads of time on your hands. I have done this several times when I screwed up and is probably the fastest way. Good luck
