Macromedia Projector Error

I am having trouble with the following error appearing when I try to play a few games. MACROMEDIA PROJECTOR HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE. WE ARE SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this? I am using a powerful system with a 2.8 processor, and 2 GB Ram, ATI Radeon 9800 All in Wonder Video Card and just don't understand why I am getting this error?

Hi Chuck,
My girlfriend had the same problem, I fixed two of her games by right clicking on the desktop shortcut to the game, go to "Property", click on the "Compatiblity" tab and put a check in "Run this program in compatiblity mode for:, now try all the choices in the dropdown box (win95, win98/win me,etc. etc) one at a time til it works. Hers work when I selected Windows Nt 4.0 service pack 5. Hope this works

Macromedia player also!! Help

Hi...my Comcast Photoshow just crashed today... I called Comcast and was told that maybe I do not have enough ram to run the program as it takes alot...duh..I have been running this program awhile but today it pooped out on me just in time for my open house...it just freezes and when I go to control alt delete I get a system message telling me the photoshoto is not responding. Then I get an error message that is to be forward to Microsoft but it mentions Macromedia player stuff. So I have defraged, deleted files and reloaded macromedia player but it still doesn't work and freezes...someone please help me...I need to burn some CD's from my photoshow for my open house tomarrow...Thanks.

If you havent fixed your problem, here is how i fixed the macromedia projector problem error.
Right click on the desktop, settings, advanced, troubleshoot, and set the hardware acceleration to none.

Projector fixed

I was having this problem, searched and found nothing.
I finally contacted Microsoft by phone and told them the problem.
All I had to do was uninstall the software, then reboot in "clean mode"
(meaning no startup programs and everything BUT the microsoft programs shut off). I then reinstalled the program to it's default folder (where program wants to be installed) and it works fine. I have since allowed the startup programs etc. to run.

Give that a try, and hopefully it will work for you too.
If this helps, please pass on the information. There are MANY people having this same problem.

Audio Controller

I removed my Audio Devices out of device manager. Downloaded the new drivers from my manufacture and the error went away.

Someone please help!!

I have been trying to access my Nero Photoshow Elite for the last week or so but the same message keeps popping up, "Macromedia Projector has encountered a problem and needs to close." Then it gives me the option to send error report which I have done like every time. I have read all the solutions on this page and tried all them as well..but still cannot access it. If someone knows how to fix this it would be EXTREMELY appreciated. THANK YOU

My solution

I am running General Chemistry 4.0 software at the school where I am a sysadmin. It has the same Macromedia Projector Error described here...To get it running in Windows XP Pro, I had to go through all of the following:

Lower 3d Graphics acceleration to the 3rd tick mark from the left. (display control panel->settings tab->advanced button->troubleshooting tab->slider is in that tab)
--At this point it runs if you have administrative access...I needed to set it up so it could run without. The remaining steps took care of that..

*Launch software under admin access.
*While software was running, I had to open the c:\windows folder and set both xobglu16.dll and xobglu32.dll to read-only. Apparently the software tried to write those files to the windows folder when launched and delete them when closed. Non administrative users can't write to the windows folder.
*a 3rd file called chem40.ini also resides in the windows folder. Right click->properties->security button->grant modify rights to whatever non-admin user or group needs it to this file. OK your way out.
*One other thing you can also try is grant modify rights to the installation folder to all users: c:\program files\general chemistry 4.0\ in my case.

After all that, I could make the ancient Macromedia Projector based Chemistry software launch as a non-administrative user. I am posting this because I have scoured the internet for help on this and eventually ended up using a process monitoring tool (Process Monitor from Sysinternals) to figure out that .ini file was causing the issue.

Hope this helps someone!
