Screensavers Don't Work

I moved from XP Home to Pro a few weeks ago. The same screensavers that worked flawlessly in Home will *not* work in Pro unless I start them manually. Under Display Properties, the Wait and Password boxes are greyed out. I've done everything but stand on my head and sing trying to resolve this one!

So when you drop down choices menu, and chose a screen saver; the minutes and password boxes are still grayed out?

Do you have all the default screen savers listed?

Yes, all the screensavers are installed. I can run them from a shortcut. The time (which is set to 0) and password protect options are both grayed out. This one is totally driving me nuts! I used the same screensavers in XP Home and some of them in 98SE; the only difference is when I switched over to Pro I went with FAT32 to see if there was any performance change.

Try Start-->Run sfc /scannow

You will need XP disk for this.

Have you installed SP1?

Did you use the Files and Settings transfer Wizard?

I did, no errors.

I don't have SP1 but I've d/loaded most other updates. The problem has been consistent from the day I installed. ``

Cool

OK - uninstall the screensavers (if you can) then re-install and let us know the results!!!

I HAVE uninstalled and reinstalled--cleaned the registry--the whole 9 yards. The only thing within my realm of knowledge that I haven't done is reformat.

Hmmmm......I used to go to a doctor who couldn't get to the bottom of what was wrong with me, but told me repeatedly I had "such interesting symptoms." I took my interesting symptoms to another doctor, who diagnosed me on the spot and got me under treatment.

I don't trust doctors!
