Windows XP Problems
First I just change my hard disk to 40G Seagate Ata Barracuda; then I partitioned this to Drive c: Windows ME and Drive D: Windows XP Professional with CD key fckgw-rhqq2..... I don't have any problems with Windows ME, Windows Update automatically downloaded the updates and have installed these. My problem is with Windows XP.
a. when I open it an error pops out - Error: a webserver is already running on port 80, for best results stop the server and restart this application. But I have only one computer and just a home user.
b. windows update can download the updates but cannot install. the message is that - downloads did not pass windows logo etc. and will not install.
Please help

You can't install the XP updates because you have an invalid CD Key.
It sounds as though you have a program running that is acting as a server. As you don't know what program this is, i would install an anti-virus prog. As well as a firewall. A trojan is a possibility.
Go here: http://www.symantec.com/
Do a search of "port 80" and you will see what i mean.

By the part CD key you quoted, it looks like you have the "cracked" version of XP. things have changed on windows update and that key will no longer work.
However, that does not explain your server problem and i would view resolving that as a matter of urgency!

It seems that you have a www server running some where in the background. If this is not you then reinstall with a good format of all your drives and start from scratch with virus and firewall protection.....
AND don't worry too much about the MS XP SP1 - it has not had any good reviews to date....
Best of luck

I would be installing SP1 as soon as possible, reviews or not. The pack fixes a glaring security hole and you are leaving yourself vulnerable.
Jez, use Zonealarm to deny all programs acting as servers... apart from, "Generic host process for win32 services" (if you deny this the net wont work)
BTW what programs are running according to Zonealarm (i dont mean explorer, outlook etc, but any other progs) if you dont mind disclosing.
As for the key, there's a way round that.
