Upgrading to XP Pro without Activating XP Home Upgrade
Quick Facts:
- computer came with XP home pre-installed and pre-activated.
- only recovery disks given reformat the HD then reinstall windows
- Dad bought new comp. was given XP Home Upgrade
I:
- got no help from HP or Microsoft at all
- decided to use his upgrade cd to repair my windows
- didn't realize that even after choosing to repair that an activation was required,
I was repairing not installing.
So I can't activate. My question is, can I install new and bought XP Pro Upgrade without
activating XP Home? I really want to avoid losing my data.
I found a good price on a XP Pro Updgrade Academic price. It's gonna be part of
my B-day present, but before I buy I want to know that it will work.
