Unhappy Two Win XP Errors

There is two errors I have been receiving with Win XP recently. I haven't found any possible answer yet. I had a worm detected a couple of weeks ago and I believe Norton did not quanitee it and deleted them. I believe they were Microsoft files that the worm attached to. Here are the two errors I get. Both of them deal with a workgroup/sharing folders.

The first error I get is when I try share a folder.

"An error occurred while trying to share unzipped [this is the attempted shared folder by the way]. The server service is not started. The shared resource was not created at this time"

I really think this is a Microsoft file that got deleted that I need.

The second and final error I get is dealing with the workgroup that I am in. It is really weird because I can see and do stuff in my workgroup after I restart my computer but after a day or so I cannot do anything in the workgroup or even add myself to the workgroup. I have tried to reset my workgroup by reinstalling from Win XP and it still does it. Here is the error:

“Work [workgroup name] is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.”

If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

I don't quite get the first error you are talking about ,, however the second error could be easily over come. it appearers the master browser selection is dynamic in your network,, you need to force one computer in your network to be master browser,, you need to make a small registry changes, follow the link here: http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/54/

furthermore,, you life will get easier with your network if your master browser would proforma the DHCP as well,, there are lots of article on the net in regards to Master Browser Election in the network.

cheers

worm

I believe Norton automatically deleted the corrupted file...it could not correct it so I believe the file was deleted...I'm curious what
Windows file it could be.

Server Service

You need to start your "Server" Service in Computer Management under services. Also, check your event veiwer for information on why that service isn't stating. You may need to figure out how to reinstall it.

So I lied...I have been able to fix the problem of sharing folders. But I still have the problem with viewing my workgroup. After restarting my computer I can view my workgroup once but after that I can not see the workgroup anymore. This is the error that I get.

"[my workgroup] is not accessible. you might not have permission to use this network resource. contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers is currently unavailable."

Now I looked under the computer management part and saw that my profile is under the administrators. Not sure why I can't view it more than once...can someone help, please.

Thanks guys!
