XP - Let me choose my own drivers!

OK I have Windows XP Pro and have a little problem. Ive spent months trying to find a solution to a crashing problem I have. I finally tracket it down to crappy Network Card Drivers. Now I need to replace the one Windows installed with my own, of course Windows doesnt make things easy. When I try, I get the "drivers you have are a newer version to the ones you are trying to install" problem. But this driver is deffinatly the one I need, if I uninstall the hardware and try to install it wont give me the option to search for the drivers manually, it goes right ahead and installs the faulty one. Can I disable this feature? Or any way to get these "outdated" drivers to install? (This driver has no auto install, I have to locate from my hardware profile)

Sorry if this is simple, but im simple, windows tries to be simple but makes things a pain in the office chair bum. Thanx in advance.

Have you tried forcing the driver, if you goto device manager select the hardware and go into the properties option and selct the driver options and find the button where it says update driver and force XP to accept it.

I had a look but I couldnt actually find the force option. It is however resolved, previously when I went into the locate drivers (advanced section) it was giving me the old drivers notice. I tried sticking the drivers onto floppy and using the "have disk" option, it worked Anyway thanks for the help.
