Question Strange boot up problem

I’ve been running my recently self-rebuilt system fine for a few weeks when this started occurring.

At boot up my system gets stuck on the XP “Welcome” screen for several minutes before completing the boot up and displaying the desktop. System runs normal after that.

I discovered that if I hit “Control-Alt-Delete” when stuck on the “Welcome” screen the system immediately displays the desk top and then functions normally. What gives?

I like you question,,," What gives?" ,, well, obviously your computer is trying to start a process or trying to service a process request on startup, one way for you find out is to go to Control panel / Administrative tools / Even Viewer to see what event has error-ed out (there is time stamp on every event, so clear all the event and reboot to see a clean event log for one boot up)

cheers

Thanks snowmonkey, I get :

TYPE: ERROR
DATE: 02/26/04
TIME: 10:35:44
SOURCE: SERVICE CONTROL MANAGER
CATEGORY: NONE
EVENT: 7000
USER: NA

There are many other “Service Control Manager” entries but without the “ERROR”, all having different “EVENT” numbers. I guess I have to find out what “EVENT” 7000 is?

Duh!!! I finally figured out to double click the error line. And I get:

"The Software Cinemaster NT4.0 Driver service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified".

Ques: How do I get rid of the command to load this non existent program? RegClean doesn’t help. Startup editor in XP does not help. So I got "StartEd" but it does not see the app. I did a file search and “cinemaster” is not found anywhere! I'm lost! PITA!!!
