Moving Favorites
Hi,
I have just re-installed Windows XP Pro after receiving sound advice from your members. (2/20/2004)
I have been trying to move my favorites (which I saved on disc) from my desktop folder back to the Internet Explorer (favorites) without success.
Would appreciate your assistance...

I saved the favorites (in a folder) on CD because of the large size of it. I then installed the folder onto my desktop after Win XP re-instal.
How do I get it back into the IE Favorites?

first thing is first,, close you Internet Explorer,, then navigate you way to c:\documents and setting\ the open your profile,, that's where you will see the Favorite folder,, copy your CD version of it over the on the same location which will over write the existing one,, then right click on the file (Favorite) then go to property and change the attribute of the file meaning remove the Read Only option by unchecking a small box, then close everthing and launch I.E ,, that's it.
cheers

To make sure I understand: You've copied the saved Favorites folder into the Favorites folder on the harddrive located at C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Favorites.
Open Windows (not Internet) Explorer. I find this easier to use for moving files around than going through My Computer. Navigate to the above Favorites folder and open it. Your old, saved Favorites folder should show in the right-hand pane.
First, right-click on the saved Favorites folder, go to Properties. Uncheck the "Read Only" box and click OK. When it asks if you want to change all files and subfolders, tell it yes.
Now open the saved Favorites folder. Select everything in it (either Ctrl/A or select the first in the list, hold down the shift key and select the last in the list which will select them all). With the cursor over any one of the selected items, press and hold down the right mouse button. With the right mouse button held down, drag the favorites over into the main Favorites folder in the left-hand pane. Let up on the mouse button. Left click on "Move here." Go back and delete the now-empty old Favorites folder.
