To remove text from desktop shortcuts or icons.

Right click the icon and choose rename then press

ALT + 0160 on the number pad. This you will have to do with every icon.

It tells me I must enter some text and goes back to the text label that was there before I deleted it. The same thing happens when I just try to put a space there w/the space bar.

I'm running Win XP Home.

Thanks,
Harold

The instructions seem simple enough but I'm darned if I can get it to work. I've tried keeping the ALT key pressed and not pressed.

Thanks,
Harold

That alt + 0160 method should work.
Make sure you have the text for the icon highlighted then press and hold alt, while you are still holding alt type 0160 in the number pad and then let go of alt, the text should go blank then just click off the icon.

Lightbulb ALT+255

When you use the ALT+255, which is a space. You will need to enter the numbers on your "Num Pad" not on the numbers below your F# keys.
