Media Player series 9

I have tried for several days now to get my Windows Media Player series 9 to connect to the net.

The error message is defined as C00D10B3 and when I search the net I find the following solution :

"On some computers that use broadband network connections (for example, ATM), Windows Media Player may not be able to connect to the Internet, and you may receive the following error message:

Windows Media Player Error C00D10B3 - unable to access the network
RESOLUTION:

For the Windows Media Player 9 Series, you can perform the same function without Registry Editor. To do so, click Options under the Tools menu, and then select the Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands) check box.
Method Two: Using Control Panel
In Control Panel, click Network Connections.
Click New Connection under the File menu.
Follow the steps in the New Connection Wizard to create a connection that appropriately matches your current network setup.
When you finish, you can connect to the network by using Windows Media Player.

I HAVE DONE ALL THIS, BUT STILL IT WON'T CONNECT. IT ALWAYS COMES UP WITH "WORK OFFLINE" AS DEFAULT. CAN ANYONE HELP ????

Have you checked your firewall isn't blocking it?

Media Player series 9

Thanks for your reply,

I don't think it's the firewall, but I have 3 computers, one which is connected with cable to the net and the two others are connected via a 3com wireless connection. The Media Player doesen't work on the two computers connected over the wireless network. The media player works on the computer connected with cable to internet. Could it be a problem caused by the 3com router ?

Check the software firewall on the PCs to make sure it's filtering media player and not blocking. And that all the relevant boxes are un/ticked in Tools -> Options in media player.

It might be (but I think v.unlikely) that the hardware firewall built into your router is blocking. How is the router working? Are two computers connected through the router and one not or does the Internet cable go into the router and the three computers are networked up from the router.

Media Player series 9

One cable is going from the Internet Service Provider (ISP) Modem to the 3 com router, from the router a cable is going to the first computer (the one were Media player is working). On the second computer I use a D-link communicating to the 3com router and the third computer is a laptop (Acer 804 lci) with an internal wireless card.

Another (might be stupid) question : How do I Check the software firewall on the PCs to make sure it's filtering media player and not blocking ?

Thanks for your help

Well that depends on your firewall, it could be part of a package like Norton System Works or McAfee. Or a seperate firewall (i.e. not included in your anti-virus like Zone Alarm). In which case look for an option resembling "Control Internet Programs" and then "Windows Media Player v9.00"

Alternatively just try reinstalling media player 9, as by defualt it will try and communicate with the Internet.
