Sound issue..

Basically what my computer should be outputting as audio is also being used as the input for audio devices like mics, etc, i managed to get around that by muting "stereo mix" in the standard "master volume" app.

But what was causing it to do that in the first place?

I also seem to have trouble with regards to changing the bass + treble tones, as in, i can't, they're just greyed out in standard microsoft fashion, and i'm pretty sure that this is what's stopping my mic audio from coming through loud and clear.

Any ideas?

The sound driver probably needs re-installing. Check your Device Manager to see if there are any exclamation marks or question marks in the hardware list, the sound section in particular.

I tried reinstalling + updating the drivers, still no change..

I'm sure it centers around the tones issue though..
