Upgrade question
I think I have my system freeze problem taken care of. My computer went in for service for this problem, yet again. And the techs found bad memory. Even after they replaced the memory it was still failing the test, and freezing up on them before the test was even complete. They're thinking a bad mother board. This is the second motherboard in less than a year. Luckily I have a service plan on it that pays for it in full.
Anyway under the store policy, it should now fall under thier "lemon policy" since this is the 4th time it's been worked on and needed something replaced. So they should be replacing the entire system. SHOULD is the key there since stores hate to part with anything that costs them money. I'll be going in today ready to fight for it if I have to. But the new systems out ther enow come with XP Home. I was running XP Pro. My husband attempted to upgrade his XP Home to Pro and wound up with so many errors he couldnt even complete the upgrade.
So what is the best way to upgrade it? As soon as the system is set up wipe the drive and do a complete clean install of Pro, or an upgrade from the menu? I have the full version of XP Pro so either way is possible.
We run a home network and use the remote capability to help his mother with her computer if she has a problem. That capability is why we had her order her system with Pro when she got it.
Any suggestions?? I dont have system specs yet.
