slow startup

Hi,

I am experiencing extremely slwo start up on my machine. It starts up and the desk top is displaye dbut the start up tone doesnt come on for a few minutes and until is does my pc is disabled. I am using mcafee firewall and norton antivirus.

Can you check your event log for hanging or crashed applications.The event log is in control panel > admin tools > event log.
If you do find app hangs or crashes and dont know what it means send me a pm with what is in it.
Other than that .. what is in your startup .. start > run > msconfig > startup tab ... if there is stuff in there you arent sure about again send me a pm with what they are.
