System Instability Error report help !!

yo

Recently ive been gettng this well annoying problem which is that when im just using my computer for desktop applications, the mouse cursor will dissapear and then the system will go black and reboot !

When the computer comes back to desktop, I get an error message report saying that my Geforce 4 ti4400 was the reason for the system instability because it couldnt handle a drawing operation.

Does anyone know how i can fix this problem?

AMD Athlon 2200 XP+
512 DDR RAM
80gb 7200 RPM Hard Disk
MSI Geforce4 ti4400 128mb
Creative Audigy Sound

try updating your video drivers and chipset drivers, i got the same message from the drivers that came with my nvidia geforce 5900 ultra, took updating both to get it straight. i went from 8x to 2x until i got it worked out and it was stable. so if your at 8x or 4x, try running in 2x until you get the updates.

What is the Spec of your PC? What programs are you running at the time? Are there any connections between the incidents?

I formatted my Hard Disk to see if the problem would be solved then but it still crashes ! I think it crashes when I run a lot of applications at once. My specs are:

AMD Athlon XP 2200+
512 DDR RAM
80Gb Hard Drive
MSI Nvidia Geforce 4 ti4400
Asus Motherboard

All drivers are updated and there are no conflicts so i have no idea what the problem could be and ive installed the 53.03 nvidia drivers.

Help !

Now, that is wierd! Did you buy the computer from a store? Do you still have warrenty? I can't think of any reason if its been formatted; it shouldn't be crashing with too many programs, unless its an insane number! It certainly fast enough. If it is just because of that then its a Hardware fault and you should see about the warrenty - if you built it yourself them I'm sorry about it!
