filename.txt is not a valid win32 Application!!!

hi all, i have a samll problem which is i can not open text files
by the notepad DIRECTLY (just by double clicking the file), it just gives me an error message saying:
filename.txt is not a valid win32 Application
but i can open it by going to Start>All programs>Accessories>
Notepad then from file menu open the desired file..
plz help, thanx in advance..

It may be that the txt file association got messed up. If that's the problem, fix it by holding down the shift key while right clicking on a txt file. Go to "Open With..." and then the "Choose program" option. Choose Notepad from the list and put a check mark in the box near the bottom for "Always use the selected program to open this type of file," click OK.

Then close Notepad and double click on another txt file to see if that fixed things.

well, this does not work, it keeps telling the same error message
,notepad is already associated with txt files, another thing to tell is that when i right click on the file and chose "open with" this opens a menu for the associated programs that windows suggests to open the file with , right?, well Notepad is one of them but ITs ICON is there as if windows can not recognize it
(the white "box/window" with the blue title on top), anyway thanx for replying.

may be it is a registry problem, i remember that i removed some
registry keys when i cleaned my pc from spyware, if anyone can
tell me how to check this i will appreciate it.

just uninstall it and then reinstall it.

I have the EXACT same problem. I don't know what's the deal, it worked fine before. I have installed Service Pack 2 and Maxathon web browser since then, maybe those things have interference with notepad? I don't know, but can someone please help us!
