Internet explorer windows opens with typing

Whenever I open Internet Explorer, in any typing area of whatever page I go to, typing starts by itself. It types gibberish. It sounds to me like some type of weird virus, but has anyone seen anything like this?

It may just be XP's speech recognition software gone psychotic.

To find out, turn off speech recognition:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Regional and Language Options.
3. Click the Languages tab, and then click Details.
4. Under Installed services, click Speech Recognition, click Remove, and then click OK.
5. Click OK to apply all the changes.

This only happens when Internet Explorer opens up.
If I use Netscape, everything is fine. Pretty strange, huh?

Anytime Internet Explorer gets squirrely, the first thing to suspect is spyware.

If you haven't already, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or AdAware. Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.

Then, to be doubly sure, download and run CWShredder. That site's been down due to DOS attacks but is back up, although rather slow.
