Partition on NTFS Disk

Hi,
I want to have multiple copies of Windows on one drive (don't have to be on same). My problem is that my drives are both NTFS and I can't seem to create a new partition on them. I tried but it just says that it can't (Command Prompt). I wouldn't need to do this is I was able to rename my default (that I'm using now) installation of Windows to something like WinNT instead of Windows.

Could somebody please help with making a partition on an NTFS drive or renaming the Windows folder while keeping the system operational.

Or, as a final choice, I could rename my current Windows and install the other Windows but I would need to know how to restore it quickly if needed.

Thanks,

You don't say what windows you want to install, Win 9x will not read NTFS and you would need the active partition on your drive formatted as FAT to install 9x.

The easiest way to multi boot windows is to install from the earlier version to the latest version.

It is possible to install an earlier version after a later version but you have to alter the bootloader to be able to create a multi boot menu.

I would read up a little more on multi-booting at Microsoft's website before you do this. You can't just create a new partition and install a different version of windows, because if it is an OLDER version it will overwrite the Master Boot Record and you will no longer be able to get into XP. If you tell us what two verions of windows you want to dual-boot we may be able to help a little more.
