Question Need Help with Screensaver!

I'm sure this question will be a piece of cake for most of you reading this, but I'm new to Windows XP and I'm stumped!

I downloaded a screensaver to my desktop, and was trying to get it placed into my Screensaver selections in my Display Properties. I have searched and searched my hard drive, and cannot find the right folder or file where these are stored!

I'm more accustomed to a MacIntosh setup, where all the files on the hard drive are listed pretty openly. But with Windows, I just don't know how to find the folder where the Screensavers are kept!

Like I said, probably a really simple question. Easy for you, difficult for me!

Thanks in advance for the help!

They'll either be in

c:\windows\system32

or

c:\winnt\system32

I tried the Finder utility, and each search ended up with zero results. I entered 'screensavers', as well as the names of the individual screensavers that are already in there. And again, no results.

I also found the system32 folder, looked through everything in there, and found nothing. I couldn't find anything named winnt.

This is very frustrating!

I tried the search with *.scr like you suggested......and it found the screensaver I have on my desktop that I'm trying to use!

But that was the only thing it found.

Try changing your Search options. In your search box go to "All Files and Folders", scroll to "More Advanced Options", then check these two:

Search hidden files and folders
Search sub folders

Using *.scr I did find all my screensavers.

Aha! Bingo!!!

I found them. Those little buggers were hiding in system32 after all...I guess in a hidden folder.

Thank you all very much! I really appreciate everyone's input. I can relax now!
