Hey!
I was using Win XP Pro multilingual ( + dutch language ) for several years, and also MS Flight Simulator FS2004, and never had any problems of the kind that I have since a couple of months.
I had all updates for WinXP, inclusive SP3. I use AVG free as a virus protector and Sygate free Firewall, and on a regular basis I scan my PC with Spybot S&D and also with Adaware free, anad try tp keep also my registry clean by running Regclean.
My pc has 2Gig RAM on a AOpen motherboard AX4SPE MaxII with Pentium4 HT and NVIDIA 7600GS Videocard of 256Mb video memory.
I always try to keep my PC clean.
Now, during many years I had no problems, but since a couple of months I have, one after the other, "ntdll.dll"-errors: my FS2004 stops and tries to send an error-report to MS, telling that ntdll.dll is giving an error, or my pc even stops, so that I only can reboot it, because nothing still moves...
Of course, MS do not refer on these reports!
I have been searching for a possible origin of this fault. Even I did a complete format C ( I do this 2-3 times a year, in order to keep my pc as clean as possible, rather than to wait longer and to see that my pc becomes slower and wlower ) and re-installed my FS2004. This time, it happened that I worked clean for only a few days, at least it looked that way to me, and then I had the same errors again and again...
I've seen on several fora that a similar error happens also with other people, but then with IExplorer or also with FS2004 or even FSX. But nowhere I could find a really satisfying solution for this error.
Furthermore I am sure that this error does not happen with any other program on my pc, even not with IExplore nor any other "heavy" program. It happens only with FS2004, but not always. Sometimes I have "heavy" traffic on very detailed sceneries, so that my frame rate slows down, but nothing happens. Other times, when there is no heavy traffic at all nor heavy scenery and suddenly my FS2004 stops and asks me to send an error-report to MS. All I can do at that moment is restart my FS2004, or even restart my pc. When I can manage to only restart my FS2004, nothing of the previous flight was saved, so I have to start all from the beginning...
So, this error started happening some 3-4 months ago. I hav'nt noticed wether something special happened at that time. Maybe there was, eg. did it start when I downloaded SP3 or IE7?... I did not notice, because apparetly everything was OK at that moment, but I could not find anything till now what could have definitely been the origin of the error.
I've twice scanned all my drives ( FS2004 is separate on a 500Gig drive with nothing else than FS2004 and some addons for it ) to detect if some malware could be there and generate the error, but could not find anything...
Please, if somebody knows more about this phenomenon, please help me and tell me what I can do now...
Greetz
