I too just googled ntdll.dll and ended up here......its quite a pest when im online. The difference with my error is it happens when im using firefox (recently updated) and not when im using ie7. I have had many problems lately so cant pinpoint when this error 1st cropped up but i think it was after the last firefox update, which my computer did automatically. I have been wondering if it is virus or hacker related, or maybe a result of changes to my registry? its baffling me! (im somewhat of a novice)

Download the program ShellExView from http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

and disable all non Microsoft ones 1 at a time, test for the error.

when you find the problem get the properties to find the program that is causing the problem.

worked for me

Hey!

I was using Win XP Pro multilingual ( + dutch language ) for several years, and also MS Flight Simulator FS2004, and never had any problems of the kind that I have since a couple of months.
I had all updates for WinXP, inclusive SP3. I use AVG free as a virus protector and Sygate free Firewall, and on a regular basis I scan my PC with Spybot S&D and also with Adaware free, anad try tp keep also my registry clean by running Regclean.
My pc has 2Gig RAM on a AOpen motherboard AX4SPE MaxII with Pentium4 HT and NVIDIA 7600GS Videocard of 256Mb video memory.
I always try to keep my PC clean.

Now, during many years I had no problems, but since a couple of months I have, one after the other, "ntdll.dll"-errors: my FS2004 stops and tries to send an error-report to MS, telling that ntdll.dll is giving an error, or my pc even stops, so that I only can reboot it, because nothing still moves...
Of course, MS do not refer on these reports!

I have been searching for a possible origin of this fault. Even I did a complete format C ( I do this 2-3 times a year, in order to keep my pc as clean as possible, rather than to wait longer and to see that my pc becomes slower and wlower ) and re-installed my FS2004. This time, it happened that I worked clean for only a few days, at least it looked that way to me, and then I had the same errors again and again...

I've seen on several fora that a similar error happens also with other people, but then with IExplorer or also with FS2004 or even FSX. But nowhere I could find a really satisfying solution for this error.

Furthermore I am sure that this error does not happen with any other program on my pc, even not with IExplore nor any other "heavy" program. It happens only with FS2004, but not always. Sometimes I have "heavy" traffic on very detailed sceneries, so that my frame rate slows down, but nothing happens. Other times, when there is no heavy traffic at all nor heavy scenery and suddenly my FS2004 stops and asks me to send an error-report to MS. All I can do at that moment is restart my FS2004, or even restart my pc. When I can manage to only restart my FS2004, nothing of the previous flight was saved, so I have to start all from the beginning...

So, this error started happening some 3-4 months ago. I hav'nt noticed wether something special happened at that time. Maybe there was, eg. did it start when I downloaded SP3 or IE7?... I did not notice, because apparetly everything was OK at that moment, but I could not find anything till now what could have definitely been the origin of the error.

I've twice scanned all my drives ( FS2004 is separate on a 500Gig drive with nothing else than FS2004 and some addons for it ) to detect if some malware could be there and generate the error, but could not find anything...

Please, if somebody knows more about this phenomenon, please help me and tell me what I can do now...

I recently had a touch of this with USDownloader. I now notice it's stopped. The only change I made was to drop the Creative soundcard from my system. It was scheduled anyway, but this thread now reminds me.

There is no definitive solution, though third party stuff seems to be getting the blame. Drivers, malware, IE addons... The list goes on.
BTW, I wouldn't install every update.

ntdll.dll is the module, but what is the app name shown Jive1 ?

cross ref 'ntdll.dll' error

Put together a system for a neighbor last December (one of literally hundreds built since 1995). Visiting with him yesterday he mentioned he was unable to play DVD's on either of the systems two (2) DVD/CD-Rom drives (Pioneer & Sony).

Testing the system (Intel Core 2 Duo E6850) found no apparent problems and everything functioned properly, except for the 'ntdll.dll' error occurring when attempting to play DVD's. Both devices function perfectly except for this oddity.

The error occurs when trying to play DVD's with any software: Windows Media Player, Nero Showtime, DivX Player, etc.

Posting up here as this is the only place an active thread on the problem was found.

YOU ARE THE MAN HANDERSEN Thank you! ShellExView is a sweet utility. I always had the ntdll problem when right clicking files, so it was logical to assume the problem was with the context menu.

In my case the culprit was SECUREROM. What a piece of @#$%. I disabled it with ShellExView and voila, things are working again!

I guess when I installed a game (GRID), it installed the securerom menu control too (how nice of them) which seems to be glitchy. I'd suggest others try the shellexview program and look for unusual or unnecessary third-party addons before disabling DEP or taking other measures that might impair your system further

Cheers

ntdll.dll problem solved

simply rename or delete apphelp.dll ... The problem is that APPHELP.DLL looks for an entry in NTDLL.DLL

I found this solution on another forum
and did it no reboot ... works a charm...

finally found ntdll.dll fix

after trying about 10 different things i finally found the problem(which EA has addressed) it has to do with the installation of securom which is installed with a number of games. the repair tool can be found here

http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg...?p_faqid=19996

if you notice the link on that page for the repait tool, it actually comes from securom
p.s. I know its for Comand & Conquer but neither of the games i run, that use securom, came from EA and it still worked
