windows explorer problem /system restore

Hi,

Please help,

I recently installed 'Go back' as part of Norton System works 2003. This caused start up problems but I was able to reboot and uninstall the culprit. Unfortunately this has affected my computer.
I can no longer access sytem restore, user accounts, Help & support, the search function of explorer.
I have tried unerasing the prog. using Norton and also reinstall, but to no avail.
I've also tried accessing Sys. restore in safe mode but that failed also.
Can anyone suggest a solution other than reinstalling windows as I am quite a novice at this.
My Op. system is XP(Home Edition)

One thing you can try, if a system file has been corrupted, is the System File Checker (it scans all protected system files). You'll need your installation CD in case you're asked for it.

Start > Run, type in "sfc /scannow" without the quotes.
