Your Problem

I had the same problem with my nVidia GeForce 4 128Mb graphics card. Is your slot PCI or AGP? If it's AGP then i re-installed Windows ME. Now it works fine.

Hi.

I'm in the same boat as you all.

I have an nVidia GeForce4 MX 440, and that exact same error message would pop up after XP would suddenly freeze, then restart itself w/o any user intervention.

My solution was to lower the acceleration settings. I don't game on XP, however.

If graphics acceleration is not an issue, or you have a dual boot w/ win98 or something, lowering the acceleration to None would most likely solve the problem -- that is until brand new drivers come out!

Hope that helps!

How to fix the NV4_DISP.Dll Corruption

I had the same problem with my geforce 6800 256mb. Your Nv4_disp.dll file has been corrupted by installing a newer or older update without properly unistalling all or your old drivers. It is very simple to fix this issue. But first you will need to download a program called "DRIVER CLEANER PRO". Once you download this program it will include very detailed instructions on how to remove all the corrupted NV4 files. Very simple to use. Email me with any questions. You can get this program from "www.download.com"
goodluck

When I Googled this I found many refrences to this problem. I found forums with posts from '01 with this very problem in them. But I was unable to find a solution that worked.

A little over a month ago I created a forum dedicated to fixing this problem. Since than we have learned much about the issue & have come up with fixes that work for some.

The error is caused by an Nvidia based Graphics card...

Thumbs up nv4_disp.dll fixed easy

i had this problom for a few months and read all the fixes over the net. none seemd to work. i found omega drivers for my nvidia card but that didn't work either. i brain stormed and was going to replace the nv4_disp.dll driver with the omega one when i went into my c:/windows/system32 folder. i found that i had 3 of the same driver so i went back and reinstalled the newest nvidia drivers from the nvidia website. after that i went back to the c:/windows/system32 folder an got rid of the other nv4_disp.dll files and kept the one for the newest drivers. and low and behold. i have never had that problom again. so try that. if you have more than one of the nv4_DISP.DLL files in that folder that just might be your problem. so try it. if it works please email me with the subject thanks for helping me nv4_disp.dll. hope you all figure it out this is the only place im posting.
email me at rich29000@aol.com. my myspace is www.myspace\freedomking5000 later all happy fixxing

i have the nvidia 7800 gtx 256 card
