Weird 30 Sec delay right after POST???

I recently changed hard drives on my Asus A7V8X, AMD 2.6GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI AIW 9700 Pro and installed Windows XP. On boot up there is a weird 30 second delay right after POST. The screen goes black, no unusual sounds and hangs there for 30 seconds before the Windows Loading screen comes up. When I boot from the old hard drive, it boots normally it had Windows XP also. Can anybody help cause my old hard hard drive is making clicking sounds and I think a crash is inevitable. That 30 Seconds is driving me nuts. Old boot up was 40 seconds. New boot is 70 seconds. Could it be the jumpers? CD-RW is on Cable Select. Old hard drive was Master. New Western Digital 60GB is on Master.
Only one OS so it's not the boot.ini timeout, which is set to 3 seconds anyway. Please Help
Losing it slowly:

Jo

Wink

Boot.ini has no checked boxes and I've experimented with all boot options in the BIOS. Nothing else in the BIOS seems to be of any relavence to such a problem. Thanks for the reply, I've had virtually no luck on other forums with this issue.

that link shows the jumpers for a western digital drive, i have a 80 gig wd, earlier after reading your post i tried mine several ways. the (single setting) (no jumper used) worked the best, when set as master it had the same delay you described. i use mine as master with a 120 gig slave. never tried it as a single until just a little bit ago.
