Another 'no sound device' after XP installation problem

HP Pavillion 763C
Motherboard: Trigem Glendale
Motherboard chipset: Intel Brookdale-G i845GL

All things have led me to RealTek AC97, but every time I try to download that particular driver, I get hit with the "...has not passed Windows Logo Testing" message. When I try to continue anyways, it crashes the system. It's very frustrating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi There,

it seem like what they are offering on HP site is the update driver....not the actual driver...I guess they figured you have the original CD and all you would need is the update !!!

Is this the site you went to for driver ??

Have you tried to download driver directly from RealTek site ?? if not, give them a try:

Cheers

The audio driver link from the HP site takes me directly to the RealTek download site. Attempting to download the audio driver from RealTek does not work. Midway through the download, I get the "...has not passed Windows Logo testing" message and gives me the option of continuing the download or canceling it. When I choose to continue, it crashes my system and the computer restarts.

Are you saving the download to the hard drive or telling it to run? If you're telling it to run, try the download again and this time save the file to the hard drive, then run it.

I've been saving the file and then running it. Every time I try to install the AC97 driver it tells me it hasn't passed Windows Logo testing, which is getting beyond infuriating.

Oh well.....

I'm just going to buy a cheap sound card tomorrow. What a joke though. Spent $100 to install XP and now I have to shell out more money just to get sound.
