XP Install Unmountable_Boot_Volume

I have 2 hard disks both 80gb, I partitioned a 25gb from the second one to reinstall XP pro, but after the install restarted it started showing the premaininstall XP Pro loading screen then the BSOD appeared, with UnMountable_Boot_Volume error on it, anyone have any advice?

Try these steps and see if it helps if not let us know and we will move on from here.



Restart the computer with the XP install disk.

Press R to select the Repair Option at the "Welcome to Setup" screen.

Enter administrator password if prompted to do so.

At the next prompt press 1 and Enter.

This should bring you to the command prompt "C:\" or "C:\Windows".

Type chkdsk /r and press enter. This will scan the disk and repair any errors.

Type fixboot X: where "X" is the drive that you are installing the operating system on.

Restart the system. If Windows still errors repeat the first 5 steps.

Type fixmbr at the command prompt.
