Network Ping

Hi all,
I downloaded a program that tests my nework connection as i have a few problems. i tested the ping, and when i test a ping of 243 bytes it works fine, however when i move the bar up to 252 bytes it comes back saying that th buffer is to small. I think this is what is causing my internet to only load smaller sites like google and not larger websites like espn.com.

Does anyone know how i can increase this buffer? is it to do with the hardware i have such as nework cards or hub, or is it there setting in my windows xp pro that allows me to raise the buffer.
