CD won't autoplay

If a CD-rom containing autorun.inf doesn't auto run, what do i do?
I have already taken a look at the autorun menu when clicking properties on the cd drive and also in the registry and everything looks okay in there. i might have missed something though...
This is on a computer running Windows XP Pro, by the way.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Send a message via MSN to snowmonkey
here is the registry fix to enable AutoRun on Windows XP (Home or Pro)

1. Click Start, then Run. Type regedit and click OK.
2. Locate the following Key/Data name:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE\MicrosoftWindowsCurrent Version\policies\NoDriveTypeAutoRun

3. Right-click on NoDriveTypeAutoRun in the Name column on the right and choose Delete.

4. Restart your computer.

Autorun will now be enabled.

cheers

If you prefer not to delve into the registry then you can download TweakUI from Microsoft. You will be able to use TweakUI to fix it.

Or, try:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Cdrom\
Double click on AutoRun in the right pane and set the value to 1.

Just a note about snowmonkey's key:

Typically, AutoRunAlwaysDisable contains a list of of devices that do NOT support Autoplay, because they must load the media to verify that the device is a CD-ROM, such as a changer.

If a device is identified in AutoRunAlwaysDisable, Autoplay does NOT operate on the device, regardless of the value of Autorun, NoDriveAutoRun, or NoDriveTypeAutoRun.
