I found a big folder containing some files with read only attribute. Can someone tell me how to remove the read only attribute of all files under the folder in batch.
Right click on the folder and choose properties, uncheck the read only box and click apply, an other applet will open, and you will be given the choice to "apply to this folder, subfolders and files
I have tried it but it only worked while setting. Once I leave the Properties box, it returns to Read Only attribute. What does restrict it for change?
The Read Only attribute on the folder itself will remain no matter what you do. The good news is that it's a meaningless setting. Nobody but the Microsoft programmers know why all folders have Read Only checked and then Windows proceeds to ignore it. However, the files within the folders will change, it's just the folders that always have the Read Only attribute checked.
