problem of hard disc

hi, I have windows xp, and I have a problem with big file. I work on video, and when I delete big file (10 gigas for example), the space of my hard disc don't change, I have always the same problem when the file are very big, some of my friend have the same problem, I think it's perhaps a problem with xp, because my wastepaper and my temp dictory are empty.

I try to make a disc doctor, but it's always the same, my hard disc is 250 gigas, I have about 120 gigas which are really on my disc but there only 20 gigas space free. So there 110 gigas which are lost.

I would like to know if someone had this problem or if it exist a program to repair this problem.

thank you very much

Drives larger than 137 GB have special issues. See this:

"In order to access drives larger than 137GB, the operating system must support 48 bit Logical Block Addressing (LBA). Service Pack 1 for Windows XP (and Service Pack 3 for Windows 2000) add this support. So you need to install the service pack if you haven't already. Note that your computer's BIOS also must be able to support 48 bit LBA. If it doesn't, you'll only be able to use the first 137GB of the disk."

about 120GB + about 20 GB = about 137GB

I have this same problem and I don't have a huge hard drive. I have 2 80GB drives and anytime I delete a video file I can't recover it. I did a search looking for the solution and found that several people are asking the same question.

If you delete a file bigger than about 4GB then you don't recover the free space. You can recover the space by reformatting your drive but that's pretty extreme! Especially if you plan to continue to use video files. I don't want to reformat my hard drive as often as I empty my recycle bin.
