Windows XP keeps restarting.

I have had my computer running Windows XP for a long time now with no trouble at all. But then one day the power supply blew (my own fault) and I had to buy a new one. From that day on for some reason my computer keeps restarting when I am connected to the internet (I am connected through a network LAN). I also play a online role paying game called Tibia and although my computer restarts when I am on the internet it restarts more often when I am playing the game. It restarts very rarely when I am not playing the game and just on the internet. It has never seemed to restart when I am not connected to the internet. I change the settings under the control panel so the computer won’t restart when it gets an error but to show me the blue screen instead, and the error I managed to write down is:

STOP: 0X000 0008E (0XC0000005, 0XBFF82 A8B, 0XF65A8C70, 0X00000000)

dxg.sys – Address BFF82A8B base at BFF80000, DATESTAMP 3B7D92EC

If anyone can please help me I would be very grateful.

P.S
Some times the computer can stay online for hours while playing the game or not and never restart then sometimes it can restart in like 5 minutes. But it seems to restart most often while playing this online role playing game.

Sounds like your DirectX drivers are corrupted. Try reinstalling them. Try going to Windows Update. Or see if they have a redistributable download.

You stated that you caused the power supply to fail. How? My first thought would be that when you replaced the powersupply, you may have inadvertently unseated a piece of hardware. Reseat the hardware components on the motherboard. Should that not bring satisfactory results, back up your critical information and do a non-destructive windows re-installation.

Go to your Event Viewer, double click the event (or right-click and choose Properties). This will give you more information about the problem. Also, copy down the Event ID # and Event Source.

Start > Control Panel > Performance And Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > System

A number of things:

Try reinstalling DirectX v9.0b from here Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card as well as the motherboard's chipset.

If the above fails, make sure your RAM is not faulty by burning and running a free memory diagnostic tool. Stop 0x8E errors are usually due to a bad RAM module.
