Help needed please

I for some reason cannot get my burner to work properly......I installed Nero, and after tweaking it to get to recognize my burner properly it seemed to work until I tryed to burn a backup rar archive in which I'll get random crc error......I moved onto winoncd and same thing happened.....I thought that it could be a compatibility issue with the brand of cdr, but tryed another brand and the same thing happens.....I sometimes get a working disk, but more often than not, I get crc errors......

My burner seems to be recognized OK and have the latest drivers......

I have WIN XP and an hp external usb drive......

Things I believe started to mess up when I attempted to tweak XP with various articles and the TWEAK XP pro util

If I reinstall XP over the one I already have, will that fix things up so I can back up my stuff properly and then re format

I'm sure Tweak XP has a restore to default option.
Or you could try system restore back to a time before Tweak XP was installed. (Not a guaranteed fix, but it may work)
