Mic Volume

I'm new to XP and I'm having a problem with the volume of my mic. It's a Telex USB Headphone/Mic combo unit. My problem is I have to go into the control panel every time I start my computer to turn up the Mic volume so my friends can hear me. Is there a way to fix this?

Go into the "sound and audio devices" properties box from the control panel and under the "volume" tab tick the "place volume control in task bar" you can then adjust the volume from the taskbar.

There is no way to keep the volume, so do the above or have a shourtcut key to the sound/volume control
