Angry Sound Suddenly Quit

I have a gateway computer and my sound suddenly stopped working. I am using Windows XP Home Edition
The motherboard information is:

Intel PT84510A, El Paso 2 (DDR) motherboard
pt84510a.15a.0004.p02

Any help on what happened to my sound would be greatly appreciated

right click the my computer icon, or start menu link, select properties. then goto the hardware tab, then click device manager. if there is any yellow ! or ? next to sound devices, right click the item, select remove. reboot, it should reinstall the device and sound return. if there are no warnings next to the sound devices, have you rebooted since the problem started? usually a reboot fixes glitches. if it doesnt try going to start, then all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. choose a date on the calander when you know it all worked good and follow the directions.

I don't have any type of markings beside my devices. It shows that they are working properly.

Maybe the volume is down, or the physical audio connectors are loose, check the audio clips in the motherboard.
